Having originally trained and qualified as a Certified Chartered Accountant within a well-respected accountancy practice in Essex, I gained a vast array of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, taxation, payroll and audit for a wide array of owner-managed and small businesses before gaining commercial experience reporting for the Aviation division of a FTSE 250 listed group.
I later found my true passion when I entered the London Insurance Market working for the leading third-party managing agency at Lloyd’s. There, I controlled the services company, MGA Investment Platform and most rewarding of all, acting as the Head of Finance of a Dubai-based start-up MGA.
Having decided the insurance market is where I wanted to spend my career, I needed a new challenge, so I joined a startup insurance group as the second hire after the CFO playing a pivotal role in getting accounting ledgers, systems, processes and financial reporting implemented and running seamlessly helping to facilitate core foundations for rapid expansion.
During this time, I was also heavily involved in getting the Insurance Agency accounting up and running and paying over monies quickly to the Insurer.
As the group grew, there became a huge need for a Group Reporting Manager role. In this, I successfully onboarded, integrated and consolidated the monthly results of circa 100 legal entities in over 9 countries ranging from Service entities, Insurance Agencies, MGA’s and an Insurer. The group is now worth $2.25bn after just 3.5 years of trading.
